toro 21 inch self-propelled mower, has some bad parts. it’s been ‘giving me warning signs’ of impending doom for some time now. effective 2 days ago, it won’t cut grass -or- self-propel either because of the bad parts. I removed ‘em, and this movie covers ‘em in closeup detail, shows the parts in the order they were removed. features tight closeups, good humor, and lots of exciting stuff (*if* you’re a mower mechanic). unclear who -made- the engine on this one, but, this thing is a 1988 model (according to the serial number). so it’s 21 years old, and it *STILL* starts on the 1st pull, *every* time. not a briggs, that’s for sure. suzuki maybe? yeah, I’m gonna fix it.

Question by carlos: Where to buy Craftsman mower parts for less?
I have a Craftsman Riding lawnmower (I’m sure MTD makes them) and want to buy belts but not from sears. How can you cross reference the part numbers? Is there a web site for that purpose? Sears is famous for not letting their part numbers be cross-refed.

I have a Craftsman lawnmower and downloaded a part list for both my B&S engine and for the mower itself. On the part list they give the part numbers. Then basically you can just go to google and google the part numbers. Sometimes you don’t get many results, though. Also if you put in the part number on an ebay search you can find most anything you’re looking for. I found belts for mine for about ..

You’ll need to go out to your mower and get the model number off of it. Then type it into the search engine with “parts list” and you should be able to find a pdf file or something on it. That’s how I did. Hope this helped some!
