Question by Dazed but not Confused: How to increase engine output on a 5hp riding lawn mower.?
I want to use a riding lawn mower engine and trans to power my new go-kart. The go kart will be used mainly to pull boat trailers, so I need some torque out of this engine, but I would also like to have a cruising gear. Any suggestions?

the original powerhead that was on that motor was basically a lawn mower to begin with haha…they were sold by sears and were called Ted williams or sears..i have a few of them…noisy little things

swop the prop for a lawnmower blade……no more tangled mooring line or fish line and mow watergrass as you go!

  14. FordNissanChevy says:

oh i was planning on removing the paddles and getting a propeller attached to the weed eater shaft. Those paddles would need a go kart motor.

    it even moved at all

  16. ndflyboy04 says:

Well its a 12 ft livingston boat.. all fiberglass and pretty heavy, But id say she goes about 10 mph maybe?

  17. ndflyboy04 says:

Just gear it waaay down so the engine is spinning pretty fast and the paddles are spinning at about the same speed as u would be for cruising. It would work great then… noisy still

  18. FordNissanChevy says:

yeah, but it should make it go still, just not very fast. If i do need more power then I’ll tie to a pontoon boat my uncle has and hold tight.

  19. coolbluelights says:

wow, that is some epicness right there! is the boat pretty fast?

  20. ndflyboy04 says:

It might take more power then a weed eater engine! U ever try to pedel one of them things alone?

  21. FordNissanChevy says:

i was thinking about attaching a weed eater engine to a small paddle boat.
