I had one of these mowers, check if you can see fuel coming out under the throttle, where it connects to the carburetor. If this is the case you need a new carbureator. It is cheaper to buy a new mower.

I love the Scotts, but the handle is pretty cheap (and short for me.)
Okay, I just read that the Brill is a no-contact cutter. Which has the more effective cutting mechanism, the Brill, or the Scott?
Does the Brill scissor-cut the grass like the Scotts does?
Ok, let me say this…First – I am not trying to bash you “clean air people” at all…but, let’s get logical…If you really want to make a difference in your environment, GET RID OF YOUR CAR, not your LAWN MOWER!
I want one of these, needs to be about 6 feet wide lol
I just got the scotts, I like it alot. Just keep the grass maneagable and it will cut great and the lawn seems to get nicer the more you cut with it.

Awesome! It’s good to see people willing to try out new things, and push reel mowers can make a huge difference.
In Iowa I got the Brill Razorcut 38.
Works great for us. This video helped allot.
This was very helpful information. We’re ordering the Scotts for our Texas lawn. Thanks!
I use the scotts on my St. Augustine and it works great
I went out at eight this morning and started mowing–it did a great job. My next-door neighbor came out and asked me “What kind of machine is that?” (she’s 20 something). Tonight she came over and wanted to know how much it cost and where I bought it. Isn’t that great?
Thanks for the video. I bought the Scott’s Classic today since I live in Oklahoma and you recommended it for the grasses in the region. I also like the 20″ swath it cuts, and it is substantially less expensive than the Brill. Of course, on the way back from the hardware store it started pouring rain, so I’ll have to wait to try it out tomorrow.
Thanks so much! We really hope these videos help you decide which mower is right for your lawn!
This is a nice video and I’m glad you made the series showing off the different models you sell.
